Stephen and Lindsay’s Engagement Shoot!

I met up with Stephen and Lindsay last week around the Little Five Points and Freedom Park area. We were blessed with some amazing weather. It actually wasn’t *too* hot. These two are peas in a pod, and I loved capturing this exciting time in their lives. Lindsay is currently wrapping up her photography degree at Gwinnett Tech. I always feel especially honored when I’m chosen by a fellow photographer. You can check out some of her work HERE.

I’m looking forward to shooting their wedding this October at Early Hill Plantation in Greensboro, GA.

John Hill and Caroline :: “what caught my eye”

John Hill and Caroline’s ceremony took place at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in Marietta with their incredible Atlanta skyline view reception at Ventanas near Centennial Park. The view from Ventanas has got to be the best view of the city. Simply amazing.

first up is this beautiful shot of Caroline having a moment to herself before walking down the isle…

I normally wouldn’t choose a ring shot for the sneak peek, but I love how Caroline’s ring fit perfectly inside John Hill’s ring…

So…Ventanas has a helipad. Amazing right? We of course took advantage of that and did a few portraits with the gorgeous city skyline as our backdrop. We were losing daylight FAST so I decided to bring out the light for this one. I did get a massive panoramic shot, but I’m still doing some work on it to get it looking its best. Fact: if John Hill and Caroline decide to do a print of the panoramic I shot it would be over 60″ wide with zero loss in quality. My second shooter Steven Wallace also did a panoramic shot after the sun had set, so I’m looking forward to seeing that one too.

The Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge

While in North Carolina earlier this week for Zach and Meredith’s wedding I visited Moore’s Creek National Battlefield Park. My Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather, Zachariah Harman, fought against the Loyalists at this battle under the command of Patriot officer, Richard Caswell.

For you history buffs, the battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge was a major victory for the Patriots and led to the end of British rule in North Carolina forever. I’m proud to say my direct ancestor fought to establish the freedom that we so often take for granted today. He fought for America before it was America, and for that I’m thankful.

The following two images show the reconstructed earthen mounds that the Patriots constructed late into the night/early morning just before the battle.

This is the reconstructed bridge over the creek. Its said that the Patriots removed the planking and also greased down the support railings making it difficult to cross for the unfortunate Loyalists.

The creek was so peaceful the day I was there. Must have been quite the opposite then, seeing the bodies of dead Loyalists floating in the creek after the smoke cleared.

Loved this monument under the big oak. The National Parks Service says, “The Heroic Women’s Monument at Moores Creek National Battlefield is believed to be the only monument in America to 18th century women and their sacrifices during the American Revolution.”

Earlier this week I traveled to Outer Banks, North Carolina for Zach and Meredith’s Memorial Day wedding. If you’ve never been to the Outer Banks you should definitely go. It’s so beautiful. Here are a few that caught my eye.

A few from Kyle and Annette’s Atlanta wedding…

I know I often choose this shot as one of the sneak peeks, but its always such a great moment seeing a couple *just* after saying I do.

What makes this next shot special??…the fact that just down the hill were thousands of people at the Atlanta Jazz Festival, and you’d never know it.

Kyle and Annette know how to party. They seriously had the floor of the Piedmont Room bouncing.

Baby Laura and Family

I met up with Tom, Katie, and baby Laura last week for an amazing portrait session. I’ve known Tom for over twenty years and it was great catching up with him and the family. This was my first time meeting little Laura.
