Band Shoot :: High Flight Society

By Bands No Comments

Jason, the groom from one of my weddings in 2008 is the lead singer of the band High Flight Society. They were in need some some updated promo shots. All the member are from Cedartown, GA and wanted to do the shoot there. Cedartown has no shortage of interesting places to shoot and I was very pleased with how everything turned out.

Here are a few shots that I really loved:

in front of an old run down bus near downtown…

an old run down house/barn just off Hwy. 278…

a very cool field with planted pines and cedars in the background…

We ended the shoot doing some shots indoors. For you photographers out there, this last shot was done using an AB800 with a 60″ westcott umbrella. I also used an old skool Vivitar 285 located on the floor behind the band pointed towards the wall. This provided some separation between the wall and the band as well as nice looking gradient. I also diffused the light coming from the 285 with the bottom of a plastic milk jug. Yep, that’s how I roll. As stated in previous posts, if you want to learn more about how to light, then pay a visit to my friend Zack Arias.
